Could it be a Z4 Sighting?

Reposted from the bmwuucdigest... I was up in the Sierra Nevada on
Thursday 18JULY2002.  At 1400hr on highway 120 heading eastbound outside
of Groveland was a lead BMW - appearing to be a black 7 series - all
blacked out windows and then two convertible BMW's - the front hood was
covered by a meshed hood bra and the body looked as though black primer
paint had been sprayed unevenly on the entire body.  Following the two
convertibles was another 7 series.   On my return trip, they were headed
west on 120 at a very high rate of speed in super close formation - less
than 10 feet from each other at well over 75MPH!   Obviously driven by
professionals.  Quite a sight! Anyone see them heading toward Yosemite
National Park?  The convertibles looked like Z7's - but the coverings all
over the body looked either painted or covered with a leather-type
