A strut tower brace won't affect your car's body roll.  Anti-roll
(anti-sway) bars and stiffer and/or shorter springs will reduce your
car's body roll.

On older cars, strut tower braces preserve suspension geometry under
sideways loading.  Newer cars are designed stiff enough that a
supplemental brace is unnecessary.

I installed an Eibach bar in my E30.  It was a bit of a PITA to install
because the holes didn't line up (my towers were too close together),
and I had to drill an extra hole in one end plate at the right location
to receive the bar.  I installed a BMPD bar in my E28, and it was much
easier because the "eccentric pre-loader" made it easy to adjust the
length of the bar to my car's dimensions.

If you have a 2002 or E30 you might consider the non-jointed bar from
Ireland Engineering.  If you have an E36 you might consider either the
BMW Motorsports bar and X-brace, or the Strut Barbarian from UUC
Motorworks.
