E30is Front seat Help

I have a '90 325is whose front, driver's side sport seat no longer functions properly.  The recliner is stuck (luckily in a decent position) and the height adjustment falls in time.  Has anyone had experience with this?  Any suggestions on how to dismantle and fix?  Or do I just have to take to an upholstery shop and bite the bullet?  Any help would be appreciated.
