Re: E30 Invisible Part

Bart

About the switch that triggers the "delay off" for you interior
lighting.

I think it uses the switch for the door lock heating circuit - listed
under "door lock heating" in "Veh electrical systems" section 61 of the
ETK.

I show a part called "contact interior light retard" - 61 31 1 375 197.

But if you are interested there is another way to get the delay function
without this switch, and have it work on all doors, or just on the
drivers door if you want.

The interior lights are turned on by a ground coming from any of the
switches at the door jams (push button on most) this goes to the TK lead
on the Light control relay (might be a brown/violet wire). Keeps the
lights on as long as the ground it present

The delay function is triggered by another ground coming from the switch
at the drivers door handle. This one goes to the TG lead on the same
light control relay (brown/green?) The idea is to have a delay only when
the driver's door is open.

But you can accomplish the same using the ground from the door jams to
trigger both the light and the delay. Just extend the ground going to
the TK through a diode to the TG (in other words wire a diode across the
TK & TG leads - diode pointing to the TG).

This way the one ground will activate both, and you will get the delay
regardless of which door was opened. Thus the delay starts when the last
door is closed.

If you want to have the delay only on the driver's door then you have to
go back to the lead at the drivers door jam and isolate it from the
others, again using diodes. This will require a diode matrix to get the
proper functioning. This is why the all door method is the easiest.

Hope that helps.
