Well, the work is all done, and the car runs far better than ever
before. The machine shop polished the camshaft, replaced 3 valves,
along with all 12 stems.
After reinstalling the head, and adjusting the valves the car runs very
very smooth, and it was almost worth the headache of the whole fiasco to
get to this point.
Anyway, I lucked out since I have a mechanic friend, and the entire job
cost less than $500 including both parts and labor.
Nice to be back on the road again.

So, I bent a valve stem while incorrectly changing a timing belt in my
87 325es...
The head is off for repair, and I am wondering if anyone has any
suggestions or best practices of what other things to do while the head
/ manifold is still off.
Thanks!
