'90 525i Cruise Control Help

My cruise control cable broke and I'm trying to figure out how to take it 
off. Does anyone have a procedure for how to get the cable off from what 
appears to be the actuator down near the left front headlight area? It 
fattens into a rubber stem that goes into the actuator box; can't figure 
out how to take off the cable itself.  Also, what's the best source for 
these cables?
