transmission control module location

i have a 1994 318i convertible. on a road trip from Houston to Omaha i ran
the car through a carwash with the undercarriage spray and the indicator
light for the automatic transmission control module came on and the car
could not be driven.

the engine ran fine as long as it was in park, but when i shifted to any of
the gears and attempted to move the car it stalled.

i was in a small town in Oklahoma at 2am, so there was nothing to do but
take a nap. when i woke up a couple of hours later i started the car and the
transmission control module light did not come on.

when i got back i called my repair shop and they said that the module
probably got wet. instead of replacing it, they took it apart, cleaned it
with distilled water, and put it back together.

the car runs fine, but i'm concerned about the location of the module and
wondering if there is a way to "seal" it, so it doesn't get wet again.
