E36 M3 exhaust, cat-back or full

My '93 325is muffler is wearing out ("tough sounding" now, but definitely on
it's way to "too loud"). I was thinking of replacing it with a stock M3
cat-back, or possibly go aftermarket.

Two questions: 

What's a good price for a nearly new E36 M3 cat-back piece?

Is aftermarket a better option? If so, who/what model do you recommend? I'm
not expecting a huge performance boost - just maybe something that flows
better than stock, is a little lighter, and isn't obnoxiously loud.
