87 325is Auto Trans Slipping

My 325is automatic is slipping a little, most noticeable when it kicks down
to pass. I checked fluid level, OK, and fluid doesn't smell burnt. I plan to
drain and replace fluid and clean strainer in accordance with Bentley
manual. Any suggestions as to best replacement fluid. Also any tips or
tricks not covered by the Bentley manual? Thanks in advance for your help,
