RE: ANTIFREEZE MIXTURE

If you ever take your car to the track you would be well advised to drain
all antifreeze out and replace it with a mixture of distilled water and
Waterwetter.

This will significantly improve the efficiency of your cooling system.
Waterwetter includes anti corrosion additives, water pump lubricant, and
increases the thermal conductivity of the whole system.

Running antifreeze has two downsides to it viz a viz track usage.

1 As Tim correctly pointed out, your engine will run hot, and during track
sessions when you are running near the red line most of the time, probably
will overheat.

2 When item 1 occurs, you will spew antifreeze all over the track and
instantly become the most unpopular person of the day. Antifreeze is worse
than oil on a track surface, it is very slick and near invisible.

I run NO antifreeze in my cars, and have never had corrosion problems
despite having had several cars with Aluminum heads.

BTW If you need to raise the boiling temp of the system you can replace the
16lb pressure cap with a 20lb or 22lb one

Subject: RE: ANTIFREEZE MIXTURE

Using pure anti-freeze may cause the car to run hot or
possibly overheat. Anti-freeze does not conduct heat
as well as water. The reason for using anti-freeze is
to keep the coolant from both boiling and freezing as
well as corrosion protection. It actually reduces the
thermal efficiency of the coolant. Unless you live
somewhere extremely cold, like north of the arctic
circle, you probably don't need more protection
against freezing than is provided by a 50% to 60% mix
of anti-freeze and distilled water.
