Re: New BMW radio upgrade

you can install the unit without hurting anything.. in fact, crutchfield
has plug ins for a lot of stereos and cars... the problem will be that BMW
has ruined the 3 series by designing an odd shaped (rectangular and long)
stereo.. so how would you put the new one in (with standard dimensions) and
how would you cover the big hole that the factory (crap) stereo occupies?
BMW did this first on the 5 series and now they did it on the 3... it is a
scam to get people to pay the 1200 for a premium stereo (still crap)
good luck....

My son is about to receive a new 2002 330Ci in a couple of months and the
first thing he wants to do is replace the radio/CD player with a unit that
he has that cost him about $500. He likes it because it plays MP3 recorded
CDs and is rather sophisticated (in features).
Is this a wise thing to do? Can the unit be installed without messing up
all the wiring behind the dash? Will it match the existing 12 speaker
system that the car has already (including two sub-woofers)?

Thanks in advance for any advise.
