Re: Brake warning light

Ryan,
Have you checked to see if your brake lights are indeed working? All three
of them?
If they are, than your brake pedal sensor is heading south. Replace it and
the light will go away.

I'm not sure why the light is causing you so much aggravation. A failure
alert light that only illuminates while your use the brakes would be
worthless bordering on dangerous. You would only be able to observe when
road conditions prompt you to slow down - exactly the time when your full
attention should be on the road. Thus the light stays on for you to
investigate at your leisure. IMHO, that's a good design decision.

Hi all,

On the way in to work I noticed that one of the lights that indicates
its time to spend more money came on. This time it was the "BRAKE"
light on my 1986 325e.

Looking through the Bentley manual, it says that this light will come
on while the pedal is down if the brake pads are worn. The light I'm
getting is staying on constantly while driving. What could this mean?

Pretty soon they'll just install a credit card swiper next to the
instrument panel that you have to swipe to make the warning lights go
off and it automatically transfers another $300 to your mechanic.

thanks, seeya!
