///M Illuminated Shift Knob

Hey all...

After more investigation into my '99 M Roadster, I noticed that the
shift know was not lighting.  I pulled the boot and checked the
voltage and saw 12.7v (or so).  I tried to check the continuity on the
wires going into the knob (both ways) and it showed "open".

My friend (again!) with the '99 M Coupe has *exactly* the same
condition.  Is this common?  Is there some way to fix it, or do you
need a whole new knob?
