E34 Oil Leak from front timing chain cover

My 92 525i is leaking oil from the lower left area of the timing chain
cover.  This was confirmed upon removing the A/C bracket and witnessing oil
seeping.

Is this a DIY job?  How difficult is it to remove the front timing chain
cover?
Any special tools?
Do you need to remove the head?
How do you remove the crankshaft hub to allow the cover to slip straight
forward?
