STALLS IN "REVERSE"

Hi,
1985 318I automatic.
While I'm driving forward, there is no problem at all. If I come to a stop and stay in "Drive" no
problems. But if I Stop and then put the car in Reverse, she stalls. If I come to a stop and wait
5-10 seconds before putting the car in reverse, the car is fine. Anyone have any ideas.
