I like to put paper gaskets on dry.......Water pump etc.

Works for me. Sealants just make a mess......

Use a dot of Permatex 2 to help the gasket stay in position.

The paper works fine as long as it is correctly positioned.

The design called for paper between the pan and the block.

Using these products is like saying the original design was
defective....
