A quick note of thanks..

Over the weekend on Sunday, I and my family were stranded outside
Austin, TX (in 106 degree weather) over the weekend when the circlip
that holds the shift linkage to the transmission gave up the ghost..   I was
able to post a plea for help to the bimmer.org list and Ritter Vonalli, John
(?)
and Jeff Adolph in Austin all came to my aid with calls for assistance in
less
than three hours.. At Ritter's suggestion I had the car towed to Terry
Sayther's
shop in Austin on Monday morning.  Terry et al replaced the knuckle that
attaches the linkage to the transmission (it was destroyed when the shifter
rod
flew out) and got the car back to me Monday evening so that I and my family
could make the 3 hour drive home..

I have recently had some miserable experiences with independents
and dealers  (John Roberts BMW in particular) that are in my opinion
not qualified to work on the E30 M3. I am happy to report  that Terry
and his gang are top notch!!   The E30 M3 owners in Austin should be
ecstatic to be able to go to a shop where the owner and another employee
(Chris) own our  rare machine.  A hearty thanks goes to Terry and his
crew for their assistance for getting me on the road so quickly.... I'll be
sure to stop by  (in a social manner) Sayther Automotive the next time
I am in Austin..

Thanks again to all involved!
