BMW Stereos are the biggest rip-off in the world... honda accords have
better factory sound... of course for the e46 models they offer that big
piece of ...... that you cannot replace for an after market... so you have
to upgrade to their premium (1200 bucks) to get half decent sound...
if you add bass you get a 3/4 decent sound....
you need bass.. the bass in these cars is zero to none... they sell a
subwofer/amp package that plugs into your existing factory amp.... see
bavarian auto, bmp, etc.....

How do people think about the sound quality of speakers in 1999 Z3 2.5.
I have found that bass speaker mounted at the center back is probably
broken
as it does sound awful at low bass.
