Re: My purchase of a 540 6 Speed

What an amazing story Donn related to us, and I can empathize with his
plight, albeit on a much smaller scale.

Last Monday I had just purchased my '98 M3, and on the way home on the
interstate a truck kicked up a rock which hit my windshield. You guessed
it, it left a bb mark in the driver's line of vision area, so the
windshield cannot be repaired but has to be replaced. Its going to cost me
the first #250 under my deductible. I guess the moral to our stories is
that bad luck can strike any time so make sure that you are adequately
insured.

As an aside, I learned a lot about windshield replacements. When calling
around, the first shop I claimed that the "premium" replacement was OEM.
The second shop clarified this, saying that the "premium" windshields come
from the same mold as the BMW version, but lack the BMW logo. Even though
the two windshields were supposedly the same in quality, I finally opted
for the logo version, on the assumption that it would not detract from the
value of the car. Anybody know if I made the right decision?

Jim
