RE: O2 Sensor question.

I would replace it. Its an important part of the system that keeps your
air/fuel mixture correct.
It is also an emissions component and you probably are required by law to
keep it if the car originally had it.
Your car will probably not pass the visual emissions inspection in most
states without it, and probably not the exhaust gas tests either. You might
also mess up your cat without it (read: more $$).

Its a big nut and easy to get to (on my 86 535i), it might not be that bad
to replace. Just start spraying it with a releasing oil now, and after a
couple of weeks of that and some heat-up--cool-down cycles, and you should
be able to get it out.

Subject: O2 Sensor question.

Hi all,
I disconnected the o2 sensor on my 85 528e because it was causing a
major hesistation problem. My question is, is it ok to leave it
disconnected or should I buy a new one? The prior owner did not use "no
sieze" on the present one and it is not going to be easy changing it.
Thanks,
Lee
