525e Cold Idle

Can anyone tell me how fast these cars idle when cold?  My 83 525e has just
started to idle at 2000rpm when I first start it.  Seems very fast.  Has got
a bit colder here;  down to 14 - 18 C most days, but outside temp doesn't
seem to make that much difference.  Soon as it warms up, idle drops to
750rpm.  No vacuum leaks that I can spot.  Any ideas?
