I am a huge believer in the Bentley manual.  I just used it to sucessfully 
transplant an entire ABS computer and system,  and Euro motor into my US spec 
M3.  If the Bentley manual is out there for this car, and I've got to believe 
it is, have your friend buy one, and delve into the circuitry pages... its 
very easy to see all the pathways that any given fuse's power line supplies.

That would be my advice.
