Re: Front wheel Bearings on 535i

According to BMW, the front hub and bearing assembly is not user
servicable and is to be replaced as a whole unit.

However, I have spoken to people who say that if you are careful, it is
possible to separate the inner and outer races, lube the whole deal and
reassemble it.

So, how lucky do you feel? Me, I bought FAG bearings, new dust covers
and hub nuts from The Ultimate Garage and replaced the whole deal. That
is my recommendation to you.

At any rate, you will have to remove the wheel, brake caliper and rotor
to get at the bearing/hub assembly. Oh yeah, that big nut is really
torqued on there, too.
