E34 - Brake Pad questions

The "Brake Lining" light recently came on on my '95 E34 wagon with 32k miles
on it. 

I can't remember if I'm supposed to do the rotors at the same time as the pads,
or whether I can get away with just doing the pads. 

Also, what is the best pad to use to avoid/minimize brake dust? I used to use
Repco/Axxis pads on my previous E34 and had pretty good luck with them. Are
they still the way to go?

Any suggestions?
