1988 m5 question

i just purchased an 88 m5, and i am happy with it. the only thing is that if i
give it full throttle, and the rpms go really high, about 4500 to 5000 rpm,
black smake comes out the exhaust.

reading the rb manual, it is because of a rich mixture.  But the car idles
fine and smooth.
