car event of the year

Hi everyone.....

Just a note here to announce that the 2001 Jaguar Roadrunner 1000 classic
car rally will be held in Santa Fe September 18 through 23 of this year.

The Roadrunner 1000 is an affordable classic car event designed to offer
almost as much as the more expensive car events across the United States but
at a fraction of the cost. Northern New Mexico offers fantastic fall colors
and panoramic vistas bisected by enjoyable twisty roads, and add to this the
lure of spicy New Mexican food and the colorful intertwined history of
Native American, Anglo-Saxon, and Spanish settlers, and you have an event
which is not to be missed. If you have a pre-1977 car you love and want to
share, and if you have a competitive nature and want to win cash and serious
prizes, then this is the event for you.

Participants in previous events asked for more driving time, and that wish
was granted in the 2001 event. We added a few optional days to the start of
the event this year to provide more driving time, but those who can only
attend the weekend activities starting Friday night are more than welcome.

Overlaying the event is a tribute to the new breed of cat - the great new
cars of Jaguar. Melloy Jaguar of Albuquerque and Jaguar North America are
main sponsors of the event, which includes a car show on the Santa Fe Plaza
the morning of September 23, judged by classic car luminaries such as Ken
Gross, former curator of the Peterson Auto Museum in Los Angeles, and Dennis
Little, former chief of design for Cadillac. Additional sponsors for the
event include Haggerty Classic Car Insurance and Meguier's.

Well-known race driver and author Denise McCluggage lives in Santa Fe, and
she has personally designed the driving tours for the event. The main
competitive portion, The Luigi Vercotti Rally, will take rallyists through
the streets of Santa Fe and on surrounding roads with sleepy Spanish-settled
villages and Indian Pueblos. It will be a question-and-answer event - one
drivers and navigators won't soon forget. Lunch will be served at a classic
New Mexico restaurant renown for Northern New Mexico cuisine.

The winner of the Luigi Vercotti Rally wins a trip for two to Las Vegas,
Nevada, and each winner of the five concours categories on Sunday morning
will win an expense paid trip for two to Durango, Colorado. The car show
and concours is open to all types of cars, from cruisers to exotics.

Thanks. Please get in touch if you would like more information. Please

See you then!
