Re: M6 improvements

Actually, although it was a while ago, Dinan was allowing huge discounts on
his turbo system for the M5/M6 motors.

They are very powerful, but put a lot of strain on the rest of the drivetrain.

Conforti chip and IFG filter would probably be a cheap start.

I have the older Dinan Cam and Chip... that helped, I also put the 91 M5
intake tubes on, they are plastic, more smooth, and easily sanded to improve
flow. (also look nice).

Weight is the killer. If your car is US spec, look for a euro motor, or
parts of it, for example the headers are much better on the euro. A track
pipe, (fahey makes, or made them) would decrease back pressrue.

The Euro version had different cylinder head too, different compression, so
the headers are not the only reason it made 286 HP compared to ours, but they
are a part of it.

I'm also told that you can squeeze in the late 3.8 liter M5 motors... I think
they were good for 381 HP... that would be a normally aspirated engine that
probably wouldn't kill the rest of the drive train.

Mark Lutrell at Becker's imports might have some good ideas... 800 624 5410
ext 11. (he has helped me over the years on my M6)

Alex Lipowich, M6 and M3 LTW doing a 3.2 evo transplant as we speak.
