High Miles?

I am looking at purchasing a high mileage 1996 or 1997 M3.  Is there anyone
out there who could tell me how many miles I could expect to have on the M3
before I started having serious mechanical issues?  For example, if I were
to purchase a 1997 M3 with 80-90k miles, would it be safe to say that I
could get 60k or 70k additional miles before I run into mechanical issues?
I am just trying to get a general feeling on the amount of miles I can
expect to get out of an M3.
