Aftermarket CD Deck in a BMW?

Hello fellow Bimmers,

Just wondering how possible is it to install an aftermarket CD head (ie: Sony)
unit in an E36 (97 BMW) to replace the factory one? I know that the speakers
will have to be replaced... which I don't mind having done but I just find
that $500+ for a factory CD changer is a bit expensive plus I already have a
Sony CD unit which is almost new that I'm not using at the moment.

Any advice appreciated!!!
