E34 brake pedal squeak/pad replacement

I got one. Would like to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

Also, I've got to replace my so very black brake pads with some pads that
put out lighter dust. First of all, I used to use Repco/Axxis and thought
they were fine. Are there any better ones on the market these days? Second,
is E34 pad replacement a DIY job?
