E28 cracked dash

I'm looking at buying an '88 535i with a cracked dash. Can anyone tell me about how much will a
replacement run (new or used)?

Also, are there any other resources other than the E28 Homepage for more information on these
cars? Specifically what things to look at closely before buying?  I couldn't get into the Digest
FAQs.
