Help: Clutch Stuck

My son is driving my 85 325e.  Last night he called to say that the clutch
stuck to the floor and he could not pull it back up.  He claims he looked
for an obstruction in the linkage, but he is not mechanically inclined.  I
am going to check it out tonight after work.  Any recommendations?
