The cruise control in my M3 seems slow to engage...I have an '88 325is in 
which the CC engages instantly.
In the M3 there is about a two second delay durng which the car coasts. Is 
this typical or do I have a
problem?

The cruise in my M3 works the same - much subtler than my old E28. The lag 
before reengagement isn't a problem because if I'm in cruise I'm not trying 
to blow by cars, just accelerate comfortably. I don't notice it in the E39.
