M1 value

BMW M1 value, as stated by a previous posting, will vary depending on
mileage and condition. Key points, beyond condition, service history, etc.
are: what country is the car in, what sort of title does it have and in the
case of cars in the US, if it was federalised and if so by whom? As an
example, a car (BMW or otherwise) BMW for sale in one EC country can be
taken to another EC country without paying duty or VAT, only some "luxury"
taxes in Denmark, etc. This is similar between the US and Canada.

Optional spoilers, extra wheels, original owner's manual, less common color
(most where red, orange or white) etc. all will move the value of the car as
well. If in Europe or S. Africa, did it pass TUV, roadworthiness, etc.?

The range of $50k to $100k is about right for a street car with 40-75.000 km
on the clock, although I've never seen anything around $50k. There are also
some very recent examples in Germany of cars at starting prices closer to
$150k. Jochen Neerpasch's M1 (father of the M1) is for sale for around
300.000 DM. Race M1's are in a whole different price range. US
Federalisation would bring the value down somewhat. Higher mileage is a
good thing as M1's, like any car in the world, can't be stored long term
without special care if you expect them not to suffer.

If he is in the US, he should contact the BMW CCA M1 register. Elsewhere I
can provide club contacts.
