You can do it but it's a pain in the butt. I'd go get the tool.

It's a box-end long shank driver - you can get them for $12-$15 from 
www.bavauto.com, or stop by your dealer one day and ask if you can borrow 
it. (Our local dealer has been nice that way once or twice.)
