Re: E36 brake replacement



IMHO, drilled/slotted rotors don't add much except cosmetics. Today's brake
pads compounds do not "outgas" much at all, so that's not a concern. I've
burned up my share of rotors and pads at the track, and my experience is
that crossdrilling only leads to heat stress cracks and shortened rotor
life. Of course, this was on my piggy (3750 lbs with driver) '97 Firebird-
perhaps a lighter car like your 325 would not stress the brakes as much.

Drilled rotors do look really sharp, and if the cosmetics are worth the
extra $60 to you, then go for it!
