2002 electrical problem: back-up and brake lights

I have a '72 2002 and the back-up lights and brake lights don't work. This 
came on suddenly. Everything else; turn signals, lights, horn, radio, 
winshield wipers, all seem to work fine. I've checked the fuses and lamp 
assemblies. Before I take it to a mechanic, I thought that I'd check and see 
if this combination indicated a particular problem.Thanks,Steve
