Am I crazy?

Guys,

Perhaps you could help me answer a question I have? I have been trying to
sell my BLACK/BLACK 1988 BMW 735i 5-speed for a month now. But you already
know this. I am now getting pretty frustrated. I must be crazy, but I
thought that this had some value? The flagship BMW with a 5 speed...when I
was younger, the guys in my neighborhood use to sit around and fantasize
about this car; it looks bad ass, drives super fast and smooth, and it has
the very rare 5-speed (275 made) virtually unseen in the US. When I bought
this car this summer, I was in heaven. Unfortunately as fate would have
it, I can't keep it because I am relocating and don't have the means or
money to bring it with me.

I am leaving the east coast on a plane on Tuesday the 24, and would like
to sell it before I go. I know this sounds crazy. A month ago I figured I
had plenty of time to sell the car. I can't believe no one has bought it
yet. I figured for a quick sell I would price it at $5700, at a fair loss.
Then after no bites I lowered the price in desperation to $4750. I can't
believe no one wants it at this price. The blue book value of this car is
over $8000. Yes the car needs a little work, the headliner is saging, some
lights in the dash cluster need replaced, a bushing at the base of the
shifter is worn and needs replaced, and the biggest problem is the HVAC
controls need reconnected (most of the wires weren't cut but one set was
and I haven't looked for a replacement plastic harness yet, so I just left
it alone). Mechanically it runs good. I drove it for weeks with no problem
at all. I had a brand new front end put on the car, control arms, idler
arm, and thrust arm (these pieces wear as most of you know). It also has
new z-rated tires. It does have over 150k on it, so yes it will need some
work in the future, it is a used car after all. And yes some of the
interior is not original, the car was a stolen recovery. So I can see why
true collectors wouldn't be interested in the car. But for someone who
actually wants to apreciate the car for what it was built for, that is
driving, I can't believe that people aren't rushing to buy it. It looks
great, look here at the pictures:

The leather is in great condition, the body panels are all straight, and
it runs great. It seems to me that if someone bought this car for a now
****$4500***** they could feel comfortable putting another $3000 dollars
in this car because they still would have invested under the bluebook
value. Do I think it would take $3000 to get this car cherry? No. That is
my point. So now my question. Am I crazy or does no one have an interest
in a 5speed 7 series?

Andrew

As you know the 7 series was the flagship BMW. But the spirit of the 7
series is not truly realized until one drives it with a manual
transmission.
