Dent repair

I have a small, rather unnoticable dent in my bottom right panel behind my door. I was stopped by a dent fix-it man who offered to "smooth it out" for 50 bucks. Of course I want to do it myself and save the cash. Does anyone have any experience bringing out a dent? What tools do I need? It seems easy enought right?
