Re: 535is Won't Start
Dean & all,
They have stopped making the ceramic core fuses (VW Type) and now make
them out of plastic cores.
This has happened to me and a few email friends. The plastic ones can melt
slightly and shrink in size over time. They melt just under the end caps.
They shrink enough that they no longer make good contact. When you push on
them, they can make contact temporarily.
The plastic cores look exactly like the ceramic ones. The only sure way to
weed out the plastic ones is to touch the back of the fuses with a soldering
iron. I pulled all my fuses and threw out the plastic ones. Pulled a bunch
of spare ceramic ones from my parts car and will never use the plastic
again.
