RE: Radiator fluid question

Michael,
Antifreeze has an anti-corrosive property required by engines with
dissimilar metals throughout the engine cooling system.
I know of an Alfa Romeo that was left with just water in the cooling system
for several months. The electrolysis between the steel cylinder liners,
head gasket and aluminum head displayed it self by eating the head surface
and head gasket seal rings up.
Can you say blown head gasket, @ $500 for just the head gasket. Would you
like to have your head resurfaced to save $5.00 on anti-freeze.
Water may be a better coolant, however anti-freeze is a better corrosion
inhibitor.

Subject: Radiator fluid question
This is a hypothetical question:
If I live in say California with no winter, can I just add water on the
radiator?? Can I live without antifreeze?
