That is actually Very common practice in America; the big 3 have been
outsourcing stamping work for as long as I can remember
It also helps bring the X-5's American content figure up, which I'm sure
affects the taxing of the vehicle! And remember it is cheaper to
Pay a non-UAW shop to produce parts then to make them in house.  Don't get
me started on how the unions hurt themselves :)

I just found out from reading the Automotive Industry magazine, that the
body panel for X5 is not manufactured by BMW.

Instead, it's by a company called Budds (or something like that)
