Rick, based upon my own experiences with my '93 325is..
1. check the differential bolts (3) for tightness - minor $
2. check the rear trailing arn bushings for wear/movement - moderate $$
3. check the sub frame mounting points for cracks (up to an including
complete tearing and failer of the mounting points) - big $$$
