E34 Suspension Mountings

My E34 525i (1989) 12 valve is in need of a shock absorber replacement and
I'm looking at changing
my front shock mountings to the E34 24 valve version. I understand that my
front shock uses the M12-19mm
currently but I am thinking of using the newer 24 valve version which is
M14-22mm. Anyone out there done
this change before?. I am having great difficulty in getting parts for the
19mm so figured I'd change to the
22mm so that in the future its easier to find shocks for my car.
