Motronic 1.3 settings

Hi all,

I recently got a M1.3 (..173 ECU) for my 325i E30.
I had the M1.1 (...153) installed, and will now run the M1.3 because I have
some tunings chips 
available for this version.

I was told that the M1.3 can be reprogrammed for fuel quality other
parameters.
Question: how can this be done and will the ECU reset if removed or chipped?
What is the default setting?
