Not to be a smart-ass or anything, but M3s have a long way to go against a
camaro in a drag race.

Here is a quick comparison:
Camaro: 5.7 Liter V8 (SS)
Horsepower: 320 @ 5200 rpm
Torque: 345 @ 4400 rpm

M3 (US '95): 3 Liter I-6
Horsepower: 240 @ 5800 rpm (can't remember exactly)
Torque: 225 @ 4500 rpm (the rpm is around there)

Even with the all-powerful European M3 engine, the camaro would still be
faster due to its 345 lb-ft of torque.

If you are looking to beat a camaro, the easiest way would be to take it in
a twisty road (provided you can drive fast in turns).

IMHO, chip ($250), exhaust (>$500), header (~$1000), air intake ($300 -
$800) isn't going to do sh*t with a camaro.

Second cheapest way to improve acceleration would be differential I think
(~$1000). But even then, you'll probably just equals the camaro until ~60
mph, then he will pull off from you. You can also try lightweight Flywheels
(like the ones Turner motorsport sells), but I'm not sure of the result of
these.

Third method would be stripping off your car to racecar-like. Throw away the
M3 seats, replace it with a single lightweight race seat. This should make
your car considerably faster.

of course, you can always installs a supercharger/turbo. That should give
you ~350 hp easy. I'd say this is the easiest way to beat the camaro in
straight. Go to your bank, get a loan for $5000. :)

Paul, just forget drag racing with a camaro. The M3 is built as a
well-balanced car, never as a drag racer. Your car is in everyway better
than the camaro. The looks, the rides, the interior, the handling, the
quality, everything is better!!

Go to a bar, and you'll get a better chick with your car than the camaro. :)
