BMW 320d

I have just taken delivery of a 320d and cannot believe that 
performance such as this is possible from a Diesel engined car. I 
also own a vintage 501 which I purchased from BMW in 1955 direct from 
their factory in Munich and the difference in performance between 
these two cars is phenomenal.

I would like to know if someone can help me to locate some technical 
information about the 320d engine. This engine is completely covered 
by 3 plastic covers and I cannot get the first one off to enable me 
to inspect the radiator and the heat exchanger. This cover is fitted 
to the engine with 4 studs which I would not like to lever up as they 
may break up. The 2 other covers have Allen screws and do not pose 
any problem.

Is a service manual available for the 320d and if so from where ?
