Re: O2 sensor cross reference?

Dominick,

Make certain that the 02 sensor is kaput before running through the
options, which are rumored to include the Ford 302 application. Supposedly
the same M30-type Bosch heated 3-wire unit (without the BMW style connector)
is in the '89 Mustang 5.0L, and is around $34 at the local discount parts
store... If you try this, be certain to solder your splices. 02 sensors
deal in VERY small current values, and can be splice-sensitive.)

When you disconnect a (good OR bad) 02 sensor, the engine can smooth out a
bit. This can mean 1. that the 02 sensor is shot, or it can suggest 2.
that you have another problem(s). Pulling the 02 sensor sets a few
parameters of the Motronic to a default, and the ECU may not try and
compensate for "problems"..., making it seem to run better and/or smooth out
idle a bit. My M30 definitely needs a good 02 sensor inline to realize it's
potential. It also benefited greatly from a bit of AFM re-calibration.
(Email if you'd like to hear more details.)

Hope this helps more than confuses.

Autozone sells one for the BMW for $99.99. A freind of mine bought one for
his GM vehicle and paid $20. Thanks,
