windshield washer check valve

Does anyone know where the check valve should be for the solution for
washing the windshield on a ' 89 , 535 ?  The car had body work done on the
front end. After that , it takes several seconds ( 4 or 5) for the solution
to come up from the reservoir  I suspect that a check valve was left off.
The local dealer parts guy couldn't find a listing for the valve.
