Re: 1992 318i rev limiter?

The electronic rev limiter will work when accelerating but not
when down shifting. The only experiences I can relate to is that
I had an 86 325e that would not go to 2nd from 5th (someone
was trying to prove this to me) but instead the little that was
left of the clutch gave in but never did it allow the gear to engage.
I had an 88 Audi 80 Quattro and I do recall the same thing
happening when I accidentally made a mis-downshift and it
didn't engage and that saved my engine. My theory is that it
may have a mechanism to prevent accidental mis-shifts but
I believe that if someone really wants it to mis-shift, then applying
extra force will do it.
